F**k the Louis Vuitton cup, America’s cup, and all that carbonfibre sailing jazz… the real deal is Turtle Racing! My sister passed along this gem and I thought I’d throw it out there for all of you.

Leatherback turtles in the Pacific have declined 90% over the last decade - these deep diving sea turtles are in dire need of our help! In what is possibly the most ingenious conservation fund-raising idea ever, a dozen satellite-tagged leatherback sea turtles will be released from the shores of Costa Rica. Pick a turtle and place a wager. All funds go to the Leatherback Trust, a charity dedicated to preserving the species. So far turtles have been sponsored by Yahoo!, Travelocity and West Marine, among others. The event begins April 16th and runs until April 29th.

So…all you water babies that love the live action of the track but aren’t feeling the horses and dogs, now is your chance! Besides, it’s for a good cause and it gives you something to do other than checking your facebook. Check it out here.
