Dear Mr. Reggie Noble a.k.a The Funk Dr. Spock a.k.a Redman
You used to be one of the illest, most consistent lyricists in Hip-Hop. What happened? For the past 11 years, I have been patiently waiting for you to drop some tight-ass shit like you did back in ‘96 with Muddy Waters. That album to this day remains in my personal top 10 - a true classic. Since then, your releases “Doc’s The Name 2000,” “Malpractice,” and now “Red Gone Wild: Thee Album” all lack that gritty, raw, dirt that made your off-kilter flows so badass.
I remember when your tracks used to be abundant on the mix-tape scene. Gems from Muddy Waters were street anthems that broke speakers in both backyard parties and clubs alike. It’s too bad that we can’t go back in time. If we could, I would make it so you released your post Muddy Water shit long ago, saved your real gold for now - and resurrected Hip-Hop from its current dilapidated state.
I am sorry to say it but “Red Gone Wild: Thee Album” is a major disappointment. It falls directly into the what you would currently expect from Hip-Hop category: status quo crappola.
Your opening line in Smoke Buddah, “I got a slight problem I smoke weed to much,” seems to have developed into a chronic illness. Perhaps you have smoked yourself retarded and no longer care to write dope lyrics. Nevertheless, I will always love Muddy Waters and cherish it as an essential album.
It’s official kids, Redman is officially smoked out!
