Mekanism Skateboards just released its first artist series collaboration of ‘07 with German painter Peter Zimmermann. The collection is comprised of 50 blank skateboards, each painted with various colors of epoxy resin.

Before epoxy resin solidifies, the fluid transforms itself during the application process in various uncontrollable ways. “With this medium there always comes a time when Peter Zimmermann is no longer in control, the picture paints itself,” says Mekanism.

The result is beautiful - somewhat resembling stained glass or the unique bubbles seen in a lava-lamp. Each skateboard in the series takes on its own unique look and feel.

Like all Mekanism collaborations, the decks are available for purchase and come signed, dated and numbered by the artist with a certificate of authenticity. The entire project will be on display at Berlin’s Galerie Michael Janssen beginning June 1st.
