Diversions Shake Up iPhone Lineups

July 2, 2007

For the past couple of days, die-hard Apple fans have literally been camping outside Apple retailers in order to get their paws on the highly sought after device. Instead of viewing the massive lines as a pain-in-the-ass, Matt Grimmer was able to recognize an amazing business opportunity. His Company, Over Here, Jerks Inc., creates a diversion so disruptive that customers at the front of the line abandon their spot, allowing those at the back of the line to get that much closer.

Glimmer’s arsenal of diversions include releasing chinchillas, bearded-dragons, stuntmen, lizards and a goat. Other antics include noxious fumes and extremely loud piercing sounds.

For those consumers hell-bent on acquiring the device, a bundle of three antics can be purchased for a surprisingly low $50 US.

With demand for the iPhone reaching unforeseen levels, another industry has sprouted up on Craigslist consisting of various individuals that are willing to wait in lineups for up to three days in exchange for hefty commissions in the thousands.

So is all this Hype really worth it? Yes, according to those that are lucky enough to be pocketing the latest oh-so-sexy Apple product. The most common response: “It is exactly like the commercials said it would be.”
