Hangzhou Bay Bridge

October 23, 2007

Hangzhou Bay Bridge is an S-shaped stayed-cable bridge that links Jiaxing, a city just south of Shanghai to Cixi, a port city close to Ningbo. At 36 kilometers in length, the bridge features six lanes in both directions and reduces the travel distance between Shanghai and Ningbo by 120 km. The project, spearheaded by Chief Commander Mr. Wang Yong, will open to the public for transport this autumn.

Yeah thats true….I never considered that aspect. I am sure though, that it is built to some kind of code ensuring that its tusnami safe. Also, I failed to mention in the article that half way through the bridge there are convenience stores, gas stations and a resting plaza.
