Built with the intention of raising awareness for the over two billion people living without toilets worldwide comes this toilet bowl-shaped residence located just outside of Seoul, South Korea. Commissioned by Sim Jae-Duck, a local politician, the $1.8 million US two-story glass and concrete structure features two bedrooms, two guest rooms, a center courtyard in the shape of a toilet seat hole, and three “luxury” bathrooms featuring sensor-activated toilet seats and automated soothing music.
As mentioned by Supertouch, the highlight of the residence is the grand “master” bathroom located in the center of the home that features state-of-the-art amenities and water conservation technology. Strangely, Sim now 74 years old, was born in a bathroom and believes that people born in restrooms will enjoy long lives.
For people interested in visiting this strange take on a home, it’s available for rent at a day rate of $50,000 US. All rental proceeds will be donated directly to his World Toilet Association’s initiative for improving sanitation in developing countries.
