Oceangybe: A Sailtosurf Initiative

November 18, 2007

Brothers Ryan and Bryson Robertson and their good friend Hugh Patterson set out on a three-year circumnavigation of the globe. The purpose of their trip: to document and record marine pollution and its effect on isolated and deserted islands and beaches. In order to make their discoveries available to print and broadcast media, educational institutions and credible international research and environmental organizations, all their discoveries are published online at oceangybe.com.

As part of their mission, the trio pre-arranges meetings, school presentations, press interviews and public exposure events in order to bring environmental awareness to the communities they visit.

Doing something good for the environment while traveling the world and surfing great waves is pretty cool in our books.

“Oceans provide us food, knowledge and joy. However, with every passing moment, the health of our oceans is being eroded by human activity. Pollutants in our air, streams and earth eventually make their way back into our oceans, and through the food chain, back to us. This cycle of environmental “detachment” must end.” -Quote from Oceangybe.
