God’s Eye View

December 18, 2007

Australian “creative-collective”, The Glue Society, has put together an interesting series of images visually depicting what key Biblical events would have looked like had they been captured by Google Earth. Above, for example, is Moses parting the Red Sea. Other images in the exhibit include the Crucifixion, the Garden of Eden, and Noah’s Ark.

Regarding the project, The Glue Society’s James Dive says: “We like to disorientate audiences a little with all our work. And with this piece we felt technology now allows events which may or may not have happened to be visualized and made to appear dramatically real. As a method of representation, satellite photography is so trusted, it has been interesting to mess with that trust.”
