Guerrilla artist the Decapitator has been making his/her mark on the streets of London by beheading high-profile advertisements around the city, leaving only bloody stumps.
As mentioned in Wired’s article “Culture-Jamming Decapitator Hacks London Ads“, “The Decapitator’s culture jamming pieces are reminiscent of the style of popaganda artist Ron English, whose seminal work in billboard subvertising involved covering mainstream advertisements with his own art.”
I find the Decapitators work much more intriguing than that of New York-based street art vandal, the Splasher. After all, chopping the heads off of people in advertising posters is way more creative than splashing paint on wheat-pasted artworks.
Thoughts?
