The Evolution of Language

June 9, 2008

Wordspy is an informative website created by Paul McFedries that cites, documents and defines emerging vocabulary within the English language. Although words/phrases like “hectivity”,”junk sleep” or “facadectomy” may seem improper, they have appeared several times in books and magazines, newspapers and other recorded sources. That said, the creation of new words provides interesting insights into the malleability of language, popular consciousness and cultural trends.
