One man’s trash is another man’s treasure, so they say. While walking home from work today, I came across this chair and abandoned vintage refrigerator sitting side by side in a Kitsilano alley. The fridge’s logo indicates that it’s a vintage Super Freeze from Italian manufacture Indesit. It was sad to see it abandoned there. I thought back to my college days, and about how numerous friends would have killed to have had a fridge like this to chill basic cooking staples, and more importantly beer. Worn by age, the fridge’s scuffed exterior creates a beautiful, worn aesthetic fit for a modern, contemporary dwelling. One can only hope that the last owner did not suffer from a limited vision and did everything possible to resuscitate its life.
