Corner Café: The Bullshit Club

July 14, 2008

Corner Café is an authentic greasy spoon run by an older Korean couple on Pemberton Avenue in North Vancouver. The menu is simple: all-day breakfast, burgers, sandwiches and coffee. Its interior has not been renovated since the ’40s. Eating there is like going back in time.

Dog Dialysis, Bananas and A Walking Turn-On

There’s ad copy, and then there’s bitchin ad copy. Case in point, this sweet insertion for one easy piece (a ’70s one-piece suit). “Easy on and easy off, quick as a flick of her tongue. Sexy cool crinkle cloth for those hot nights to come.” Be sure to “show where your headed in the [...]

Russian Trannys, Creatives and A Babe

June 30, 2008

Discovering that the sensuous Russian woman you’ve been talking dirty with and sending money to online is actually a man (part of one of the many disturbing Russian mafia rings making a fortune off of such scams) can be heartbreaking!

Japanese Posters, Silicon and Microfame

Pam Anderson was initially discovered at a BC Lions football game. Dressed in a Labatt’s Beer t-shirt, she was randomly selected from the crowd and her image was projected on the stadium’s wide screen. Does North America even innovate [...]

Special prescription pharmaceutical items one may desire can easily be obtained provided one has the right connections. This has resulted in colleges, high schools, and even elementary schools [...]

Kebabs

The locals in France laugh with disbelief when I tell them that Sushi restaurants in Vancouver are abundant, and that a standard 10 dollar sushi plate in Vancouver is the equivalent of a 50 euro plate in France. Disgusted by the high costs, folks in these parts don’t typically eat sushi, rather they opt out [...]

Plastic Soup

You may have heard of the North Pacific Gyre. According to Wikipedia, “the North Pacific Gyre (also known as North Pacific Subtropical Gyre) is a clockwise-swirling vortex of ocean currents comprising most of the northern Pacific Ocean. It is located between the equator and 50º N latitude and occupies an area of approximately ten million [...]

On The Cheap

April 9, 2008

With the euro now fluctuating between 1.6 to 1.7 CAD, traveling France is extremely pricey. For the most part, everything costs double what it would in Canada. To put it in perspective, the average pint will run you between five and nine euros, which after converting to Canadian dollars is somewhere between eight and 15 [...]
